I have had two reds that were just the most outstanding (non-fortified) wines that I've had in my life. They were the Peter Lehmann 1999 Barossa Shiraz and the 1997 Edmeades Zin.

Oh, so good.

What was your favorite? Please: nothing too obscure. I'll never be able to find it.

One was a 1978 Val di Suga, Brunello di Montalcino, bought in 1985 for $13, and consumed in 1995. Just thinking about it brings back the finish.

Think if you go back on the individual thread you'll find both wines hjave been reviewed, and favorably too. WW

Auburnwine, '98 Pirramimma Shiraz for $16 "floated my boat" and I still have 9 in the cellar. I just posted notes on the '98 Barossa which was , in retrospect, a steal for $16, it's beautiful right now.

The 94 Markham Napa Cab stands on a pedestal in the weeners cellar. As good as some Lafites' I've had at the remarkable 17 per tag. WW [Image: biggrin.gif]
