I just saw the weather radar for San Antonio. It looks a bit wet and windy.

- hotwine - 07-15-2003

Thanks, we're fine. Only 0.5" of rain so far, but 2"-4" due tonight, with 30-40 kt winds. Only personal inconvenience has been trekking to the cellar (60 yds or so) for a wine for dinner. Donned high rubber boots, straw hat and bermuda shorts, and had no problem at all. Wish all hurricanes would turn out this wimpy. Haven't heard from relatives to the south, though, or the ranch foreman. Guess the jury's still out on this one.

I just love a man with good fashion sense! How's it going? Has Claudette made her exit from your area?

- Thomas - 07-16-2003

We've heard that she has been downgraded to Tropical Storm, and that there have been no recorded fatalities. True?

Bermuda Shorts and rubber boots? You must have looked real gooooood!

I shudder at the image . My bro-in-law has a house on the bay. He'll get a damage report from his realtor this am and I'll fill you'all in. WW

Two fatalities that we've heard of - 32-yr-old woman killed by a falling tree, 13-yr-old boy killed by a tree limb. Lots of tractor-trailer rigs blown over on the highways, trees down everywhere. Word from sister-in-law this morning is some minor damage at the ranch - the house is OK, but some of the outbuildings are kind of banged up, missing doors, etc. Could have been a lot worse.

Glad it wasn't worse for you, Hotsie. I've lived through enough hurricanes and nor'easters to know that these storms are plenty dangerous and scary. There was some impresssive footage on the weather channel this morning.

on the lighter side...
What kind of wine does one drink when in such weather?

- winedope1 - 07-16-2003

glad you're ok, Hotwine. I'm sure we all wish you had taken a picture of that outfit!

- hotwine - 07-16-2003

Some images shouldn't be preserved for posterity.....at least, I had the bermudas on.

That's a good thing, because there's already a guy in Times Square that calls himself "The Naked Cowboy." Stands in the middle of the street wearing boots, hat and jockey shorts. Plays guitar and sings. I'll bet foodie has seen him. We went to see a show and there he was...the funny thing is that the New Yorkers just walk past him like he's nothing special. Only in NY.

- Bucko - 07-16-2003

That WAS Foodie......

- Georgie - 07-17-2003

No, no...I hear he works over on another block as "The Naked Sommelier." Wears only a tastevin...

- Kcwhippet - 07-17-2003

Definitely not a sight I want to encounter on the streets of New York!

- Thomas - 07-17-2003

but I'm gonna add a pair o' shoes to the act--damned glass shards everywhere...
