Our boys pulled off something of an upset last night in World Cup (soccer) qualifying. Missing four starters with injuries and playing on the road in Honduras, it was thought that we'd be lucky to get a draw. Instead, we get a terrific late goal from Clint Mathis, a Georgia boy playing in place of one of the injured starters, to win the match. We're now in first place in our qualifying group.

Roberto, will Brazil even qualify for the tournament this time around? Last I heard they were losing matches to Ecuador.

WW, I'm sorry, I guess you're right. I shouldn't have been so rough on such a timid and sensitive member of the board. Just when Roberto had developed enough confidence to venture mild opinions on uncontroversial topics I go and do something like this.
Would a vow to drink nothing for a month but aglianico, marzemino, and teroldego be suitable penance?

Dan, Dan, Dan...the team that Brasil sends to the qualifiers is the equivalent of a High School ROTC battalian going to war games, THEN they send in the Rangers, the Green Beret and the Seals (the guys who are all playing in Europe for money that would make American Athletes cry) for the World Cup. They are not four time world champions for nothing!
