- tandkvd - 01-24-2004 I recieved this by e-mail from my Mom today. The Panthers and God John Madden was in Dallas to announce a football game one weekend when he noticed a special telephone near the Cowboys bench. He asked Quincy Carter what it was used for and was told it was a hotline to God. John asked if he could use it. Quincy told him, "Sure, but it will cost you $100." John scratched his head, then thought, what the heck, I could use some help picking games. He pulled out his wallet and paid $100. John's picks were perfect that week. >> > > >> The next week John was in St Louis when he noticed that same kind of phone on the Rams bench. He asked what the telephone was for and Marc Bulger told him, "It's a hotline to God. If you want to use it, it will cost you $500." Recalling last week, John pulled out his wallet and made the call. John's picks were perfect again that week. >> > > >> The next weekend John was in Charlotte at Ericsson Stadium when he noticed the same kind of telephone by the Panthers bench. He asked Jake Delhomme, "Is that the hotline to God?" Jake said, "Yes, and if you want to use it, it will cost you 35 cents." John looked incredulously at Jake and said, "Wait a second, I just paid $100 in Dallas and $500 in St Louis to use the same phone to God! Why do the Panthers only charge 35 cents?" Jake looked at John and replied, "In the Carolinas, it's a local call." - Innkeeper - 01-24-2004 In New England it's a quarter. - tandkvd - 01-24-2004 If ya'll keep drinkin those Witch wines I'm sure the cost will go up. WW - tandkvd - 01-25-2004 Jarog, we are now, I think, a reciprocal state. - wondersofwine - 01-28-2004 I thought it was still under appeal by the liquor interests. Hoping we can order from out-of-state legally sooner rather than later. - tandkvd - 01-28-2004 I found this artical from July. I am shure that I saw an artical around October where this bill had passed. I haven't heard about an appeal. N.C. BILL PAVES WAY FOR MAIL-ORDER WINE Source: KATHLEEN PURVIS, STAFF WRITER Wineries that buy a yearly $100 permit will be able to ship their products directly to N.C. consumers under legislation near passage in the General Assembly. The Senate version of the wine shippers' permit bill passed the House on second reading Thursday. Hallelujah! - wondersofwine - 01-28-2004 The Panthers were lucky to get out of Charlotte before the icy weather closed down some of the NC airports and/or canceled flights. As it was, I think their flight was delayed several hours. Heard it was 78 degrees in Houston. (Both teams may suffer heat stroke!) - hotwine - 01-28-2004 Stopped by my favorite outlet today (Wines Best Buy in San Antonio) for a modest resupply, and they happened to be hosting a visit by a marketing rep from Terra Valentine Winery in CA. Nice young lady. Tried a couple of her Cabs and was quite impressed. And she said they now ship directly to consumers in Texas! Yee-haa! |
