I really like Le Gay and the rest are in no particular order (1) 2005 Ch. Le Gay (2) 2005 Pontet Canet (3) 2004 Pesquera (4) 2005 JJ Prum WS Riesling Spatlese (5) 2005 Vollenweider Wolfer Goldgrube Riesling Spatlese (6) 2004 Alion (7) 2006 Konzelman Cabernet franc ice wine (8) 2004 E Pira Barolo (9) 2005 Ch. Beau Sejour (10) 2001 Giruaud Sauternes - Kcwhippet - 01-01-2009 Haven't put a lot of thought into this. Between the couple of hundred wines we've had at home and out, and the many had at the shop, it's tough to decide. Usually my favorite wine is the one I'm drinking at the moment. However, I'll go over my lists and try to dig up a top ten. Can't wait to see the Weener's list. - Bucko - 01-01-2009 An eclectic mix, in no particular order: 2007 Grgich Hills, Fumé Blanc, Napa Valley, California 2006 Potel-Aviron, Morgon Cote du Py, France 2003 Bollinger, Brut, Champagne, France 2005 Abeja, Cabernet Sauvignon, Columbia Valley, Washington 2007 Rulo, Rosé, Walla Walla Valley, Washington 2006 Abeja, Syrah, Walla Walla Valley, Washington 2007 à Maurice, Viognier, Columbia Valley, Washington Dow's, 20 Year Old Tawny Port, Portugal 2006 Eroica, White Riesling, Ice Wine, Columbia Valley, Washington 2005 Chateau Margaux, Margaux, France - VouvrayHead - 01-01-2009 Well, I've had a VERY eventful year and while my wine-tasting is going swimmingly, my note-taking went South for the year. That said, here are a handful that were most memorable to me this year. Sean Thackrey Pleiades XVI NV Rene Geoffroy Rose de Saignee 2005 Hoffmann-Simon Piesporter Goldtröpfchen Riesling Spätlese 2006 Cline "Live Oak" Zin Harvest Moon's 05 and 06 Pinot and Zinfandels NV Taltarni Brut Tache And, since I served these at my wedding: 2006 Domaine de Pouy (White Gascogne VdP) NV Segura Viudas nb: I just drank a bottle of 2006 Live Oak Zin here in April of 2010. Boy has the bottle, my tastes, or both changed! Downgrade severely... Honeymoon euphoria must have blinded me!) [This message has been edited by VouvrayHead (edited 04-25-2010).] - hotwine - 01-01-2009 Buckster, it looks like the Margaux received a WS 100. Do you agree with the rag's assessment? - dananne - 01-02-2009 Yay! I see another Harvest Moon fan! I'll give this a bit of thought and post again, but I know one of our WOTY we had the other night up at the farm in Missouri -- the '98 Pasanau Germans Priorat La Planeta. It was one of the few times this year that we opened an aged wine at just the optimal time. It seems most of the time we were popping stuff too early or too late. Ah, such is life. - hotwine - 01-02-2009 There were a few in '08 that really stood out: '04 Tignanello (Antinori) '01 Marchese Antinori CCR '05 Dom de la Motte Chablis '06 Bodega Ateca Garnacha de Fuego '01 Terradavino Barbaresco '02 De Feudis Amarone Botter Spago Prosecco (NV) '06 House Wine Chardonnay Probably left somebody out.... - Drew - 01-02-2009 Bucko wrote: 2007 Grgich Hills, Fumé Blanc, Napa Valley, California I never thought I'd see a Fumé as one of Bucko's favs....... Drew - TheEngineer - 01-02-2009 DA, I just purchased a couple of bottles of the Pasanau Germans Priorat La Planeta but don't remember the vintage. I'll look and am glad that this was a good wine! VH, wedding wines are always memorable!! I still have some from my wedding some time ago and I'm pretty sure they are all vinigar not but back then they were "the best".....that we could afford and knew about I forgot one that definitely fit up there. 2004 Gaja Barbaresco! That was pretty good! - winoweenie - 01-02-2009 Here are my latest list..... 98 Dehlinger Cab 99 Ch. Montelena Calistoga Cuvee 97 Sterling Diamond Mtn 97 Silver Oak Alex Valley 94 Livingston Moffitt 94 Shafer Hillside Reserve 94 Flora Springs Hillside Reserve 95 Ch. St. Jean Cinq 96 Ch. St. Jean Cinq 91 Caymus Special Selection 94 Dalle Valle Napa 94 Beringer Pvt. Reserve This covers my drinking way back thru 12/21. There will be a change after tomorrow. IOWs my last 10 are me favotite wines of the year. Happy ebberbody. WW - Bucko - 01-02-2009 The Margaux is about as good as it gets, but the price is insane. I got to try it at a tasting. No new-release wine is worth $1,200.00 to this old country boy. Drew, we put away a lot of NZ SB. The Grgich was very nice, but overpriced compared to NZ. - TheEngineer - 01-03-2009 Cripes WW, that would be a great list for me for the entire year..... - Kcwhippet - 01-04-2009 Tried my best but just couldn't do it. I just couldn't get the list down to 10, so here are all 20 of the ones I liked the best - in absolutely no particular order. 1993 Mastantuono Barbera 1990 Ch. Will try to post later this week. - TheEngineer - 01-11-2009 DA, I finally found out and popped a 2002 Pasanau Finca La Planeta. This is a LARGE and SOLID wine. Very nice but I suspect this was yet another case of infanticide. Lots going on in this one, almost too much but the energy of the wine was great.
