I e-filed today. It took 4 1/2 hours for both feds and state. Learning curve considerably shortened for next year. It cost nothing for the fed and $8 for the state. You just get you stuff together and go to www.irs.gov, and click on e-filing and answer a couple of questions. They refer you to a commercial e-filer. We chose TaxACT. Already received notice that the returns have been received by recipiants, and will hear in 3 days fed, and 5 days state if all is OK.

On a related subject since this was my first year of drawing social security, I was delighted to find that I had to claim 85% of it as new taxable income. Must be something thought up by Democrats.

Let there be no doubt, IK. The whole idea of Social Security being taxable is obscene in my book.

that is absolutely ridiculous. You work hard all your life to pay taxes on your reirement income! Well, at least I found out during my recuperation this fall that TDI is not taxable. Thank goodness for that!! WD

IK, the Democrats who thought that one up I think were named Ronald Reagan and friends. It was among the tax reform measures of the eighties, along with paying tax on unemployment insurance income.

But of course, that was after RR switched from Democrat to Republican, so that makes the tax ok.
