I saw this on the license plate frame attached to someone's car: Pour livre, il faut le Francais.
Could someone translate for me?

"For delivery, one needs the French" is the closest literal translation I can come up with. As for what that means, ??? Hopefully, someone can clarify the meaning, or maybe it makes more sense in the context of the vehicle it was on ( a French delivery company?).

The dictionary Website (dictionary.com) translates it as "For book, one needs the French." That still doesn't help IMO. Maybe Scoop or RAD or Blue will chime in.

Are you sure it was "livre" and not "vivre"? If it is the latter, then an appropriate translation would be "In order to truly live, one must be French."

RAD, you are most likely correct. It was probably "vivre" and not "livre"..... but I can not be sure until I see it again. Since I suffer mild dyslexia, I sometimes don't really see what I think I see.
As much as I drive around this city, you can rest assured I'll get behind that fellow again.
