I am not much of a wine drinker so I need some help. I need to bring some wine to a dinner party where the host is serving a spicy seafood dish, what would be the best choice of wine? Thanks for the help.

Hi Mary and welcome to the Wine Board. There are some excellent recommendations in the adjacent thread entitled "What goes with this." The subject is also spicy fish.

You're a little vague about the dish, but I assume that there's either a hot salsa or a Cajun style seasoning or etoufee cooking style involved.

If the dish is on the hot side, slightly sweet, fruity white or pink wines are often suggested. That is, white wines like Riesling, and pink wines like White Zinfandel. If you prefer dryer wines, there are fruity yet dry styles of Riesling available (Trefethen and "Pacific Rim" being two popular California brands), and wineries like De Loach make White Zinfandel that is a little dryer (although still slightly sweet) than most.
