1998 Tapiz, Malbec, Mendoza, Argentina, $11. Very fruity and peppery, having plum and blackberry flavors, nice acidity and balanced oak flavors. Very good value. It is rare to find this quality for $11 retail. Affiliated with Kendall-Jackson.

Bucko, I have heard of Trapiche, but never of Tapiz; must get out and look. The former produces great Malbec and for $2 less than the one you cite.

That is suggested retail - usually a buck or two cheaper. I have seen positive comments about Trapiche previously, but have never tried it.

Enjoyed a wonderful bottle of the Trapiche Malbec just before departing on our current swing through the southland. Would definitely vote it in as a top value. Will keep eyes open for the other one too.

Now I have to go find a Trapiche....
