This won a gold at the CA state fair, which prompted me to try it. Previously, I couldn't get past the huge rooster on the label. For $6.99 this is an incredible cabernet. Lots of dark fruit and spice on the nose, with rich plum, cassis and vanilla flavors. I have had many $20 cabs that don't have this much character.

Love that label!

I agree. The Rex Goliath Cab is a lot better than most cabs up to $12 or so. Their Pinot Noir, which goes for about $8.99 in Austin is also an outstanding value. Much better than most sub $15 Pinot Noirs available around here.

Cheers

Welcome to the Wine Board, Dsnow. Sounds like good advice.
