WOW: actually, it turns out the other zin i tasted was not the old vines, but the reserve. here's my rather sparse TN... '01 Rodney Strong Sonoma County Reserve Zinfandel ($30 at the winery): dark reddish purple. very nice nose of zinberry fruit and maple syrup, followed by tasty chocolate and zin flavors. 89 points (very good).
