Picked up my case of 2000 today and my wine merchant tossed in a bottle of the 2001 to try. Not much on the nose, dark fruit. Syrah/Siraz like flavors, very Aussie like, of mature plum, Tar, and some Herbs de Provence. Probably more Syrah on the blend. (Reminds me of the '98 Banrock Station Shiraz)
Not as funky as I like my Frenchies. Ok entry, good mid but trails off fast on the astringent finish. An ok wine but not the quality of the 2000. 13%Alc/vol. Retails for $10.99 here.
