I enjoyed my "salary reduction" day off, (Maryland State furlough), yesterday by playing a nice round of golf in the Peach Bottom area of Pennsylvania with my very good friend, Jeff. On the drive back we stopped at the wine, fishing, and bait Mecca of the area, Cliff's liquors...who could ask for more!?
While shopping discreetly (disappearing in the background wearing our Under Armor polo's and soft spiked saddle shoes) alongside of folk engaged in spirited discussions of earth vs. blood worms and the 10 bikers, colors displayed of course, deciding what rot gut whiskey would pair well with their beer of choice and, with the soothing background "music" of the Maryland State lottery machine spitting out the daily selections, I spotted the above bottle who whispered to me "Get Me The Hell Out Of Here!!!" So I purchased him for the low price of $16 and off we went.
This wine is 100% old vine Grenache, inky purple in the glass. Flowers, crushed raspberry and lavender scents. Intense dark fruit, ripe raspberry, spice, black pepper flavors with hints of mineral and dark chocolate. Plenty of tannins mid palate to carry this wine a bunch more years and the flavors carry on the long finish. A very well done CDR fruit bomb. 15% Alc/vol.

Drew,

That was terrific imagery writing. I could feel the inside of that place. Love it!

I liked the description of both the shop and the wine.

me too. part of the fun of drinking wine is the sport of finding it. quite the challenge it can become.
