2000 Chateau La Rogue (or Roque)
Pic Saint Loup
Coteaux Du Languedoc
$11
13.5%
Kermit Lynch Import

A redish purple hue. Bramble berry with loads of earth and spice on the nose. Same on the palate with great acid that lightens up the huge feel of the earth and spice. Incredibly balanced with a gorgeous finish. This is a hodge podge of cinsault, carignan, mourvedre and probably many others.

The chateau also puts out an vieilles vignes mourvedre for $13 that is more stately but still has that wild edge. Both are worth the look, and definitely worth the bucks, if you can find them.
