Convinced that I had wanted a Croze hermitage tonight, I scrounged around until I found this bottle. Garnet purple in color, Nose is rather gamey and like a wet forest, old cedar. Some red fruits but also a bit peppery. Pretty densely flavored. and medium finish and a bit longer persistence. Seems to be older than it is.

One of my favorite producers in the Rhone. Not really a big fan of the Croze area tho. WW

WW, I agree with that. My favourite region in the Northern Rhone is Hermitage and then 2000 Cote Rotie. The last hermitage I had was the 1990 Chapoutier and that was just magic. The last Cote Rotie was from Rene Rostaing and I can still remember the waves of flavours rolling in on my like successive waves...very very nice.

Shared some of the 87 Guigal Hermitage with a number of the Board denizens back at the FL offsite. Seemed to go over pretty well.
