- Innkeeper - 09-06-2004 2002 Domaine les Chenets, Crozes-Hermitage Blanc ($14 Blue Hill Wine Shop). Alcohol is 12.5%. The blend is 50% Roussanne and 50% Marsanne. A deep yellow-gold color greets the eye. It gives you apples & citrus on the nose and upfront. A medium body with earthy and mineral notes and a complexity of stone fruit and honey cross the palate. The finish is delightful, particularly so when the wine, which wasn’t too cold to begin with, warms up a little. To be honest, Bev found it to be starker than I did; it could have been the minerality that she has never been fond of. It could also need more age; and we have another bottle to hang onto for a while. Matched it with sautéed chicken breast seasoned in a Franco vs. Italian manner, in cream sauce. It was accompanied by a salad in raspberry/hazelnut vinaigrette. Happy Labor Day to all. - Innkeeper - 09-28-2004 Had the second tonight. With a little more age and a little more air, it was much better; or maybe the first was a bad one. Matched it with much the same dish, except it had some sliced almonds in it this time. Lovely. |
