A combination of Nebbiolo, Barbera, and Cabernet this is one tasty bottle of grape. I guess it was a late release as the first I've seen or heard of it was Friday at the BAWDIES meeting at my favorite wine jernt. The meeting consisted of two of us but we managed to down a pair of these suckers with our lunch. Deep ruby, pretty nose of spice
( a combo of cinnamon and all-spice? ),cherry-berry red fruits, vanilla and a whiff of earth. Big entry, a very solid center and a finish that lasted past the spicy-honey mustard slathered on the Panninis'. Just put a box to sleep in the cellar and will give it another 6 to 12 months for the supple tannins to integrate. This is one good bottle for 24 bucks. WW

Verne, I can see you are trying to make up for all the wine you couldn't drink while driving but I am confused: I this wine from Piemonte, France or California????

That's a Rabbit Ridge wine made in Sonoma with Italian grapes, no? Maybe WW didn't know where to file it.....

Thunked the Erich Russell Name would give most of you clueless whereist it be from but as ole'W.C. said " nebber give a sucker a decent drink". Dint' even think of where the devil I filed it. It's good 'nuuf to file in 6 other threads. WW

Verne, I took that Germanic sounding name to be that of a nice boy from Alto Adige / Sud Tyrol who married into some land in Piemonte, never heard of the guy....

Roberto, Erich is the owner of Rabbit Ridge who is now bottling his super-premium stuff under his very-own-name. His 1997 Cab is IMHO
one of the 10 best wines from the vintage. I'll bring a bottle of both of these suckers up next trip and convert youse back to the good ole' U.S.of AAA. As far as the name, in Erichs' own words, "This wine is particularly special to me as it is named after my favorite location in Italy, the place I first discovered the fine blend of Piedmonte ". And it's a great food wine.

Well the Rhone does flow within a few hundred klicks of the Piedmont.
