- Zaphod - 06-07-2005 2003 Domaine de Verquiere, CdR $8 13% abv Very light cranberry color, tiny clear rim. Pleasant light aromas of fruit-bowl plums-and-cherries centerpiece on Grandma’s dining room table. Light on palate with tart, dusty plums, a bit of pepper and a little earthy note on the finish. Great dryness, but the plum fruit tastes sweet. With air it gets a little heavier, slightly more tannic and more acidic too. Nice summer weight CdR for the outdoor charcoal-roast chicken dinner. - Thraz - 06-07-2005 Thanks for the note. I can only find it at $12 in the NE - still a good buy at that price? - Zaphod - 06-08-2005 Hi Thraz ~ It's a nice enough CdR for $8 online at K&L purchased over the winter), but I'd pass at $12. There are many other ones I'd recommend at that price point, like the 2002 Mont Redon if you can find it - it was a tough year but this is a great CdR. Also, the Bouchard's 2001 Dom. du Val des Rois, Valreas, CdR Villages, which is $12 online at K&L. Let me know if you try any! - dananne - 06-08-2005 I had the '00 of this one, and found it nice at the $10 price point here in Atlanta. Will look for the '03. Thanks for the TN. - Kcwhippet - 06-08-2005 Tanzer gave the Mont Redon CdP a 90-93 out of barrel, but I assume you're talking about the CdR. - Zaphod - 06-08-2005 Yes, the Mont Redon CdR. Haven't had much bottle variation in 3 out of 6...Very nice drop, I think. I'm always on the lookout for good QPR CdRs, and this and the Bouchard are at the top of my list. It's a little early in my tasting experience to give accurate notes on CdPs. |
