Pick-up a case of this sucker today after pouring the re,mainder of my 98 into the cistern. Brilliant ruby. Almost a candied nose coming up front like an exotic Burgandy, then a spicy sweet herbal note comes thru. In the mouth this patootie is silken, soft, and aliken to an older wine from a far region known as the Cotes. At 9.99 this wine must be in the top quadrant of P/Q on the market. Some lingering aftertaste. but no long-long- finish. Some soft tannins detectable after the lushness subsides. As much as I liked the 98, must say this has don' been put on the Hot-Dog, BBQ, Hamburger, Grilled Annythin', or jes' sittin' ana rockin catagory. By the way Ik, this is a Cab 'Haint it? WW

WW, I picked up a bottle of this yesterday--for only $7.49 here in NYC! Would have bought a case on your recommendation alone at that price, but rapidly running out of space, and I'm heading to Napa next weekend. Opened this one up this evening. Deep clear magenta. Pleasant Rhone-style nose with the candied element WW mentoined, and decent acidity--my experience was a bit less enthusiastic than WW's, but maybe my taste buds are still clamoring for those Napa jewels I just left.

Still, at $7.49, no regrets, and great P/Q; but for an everyday-type drinker--and I know this is an apples-to-oranges comparison--for an extra $2.50 I'll take the 97 Burgess zin.

Saw Costco had replaced their '98 P45's today with the '99, priced right @ $6.99. I already have a couple mixed cases of '98 CdR's downstairs, but figured for this price I can start adding a few '99s. Grabbed a few bottles of '99 Laboure-Roi CdR as well...for $4.99. Cool weather headed in, cooking a beef en daube to go with, a CdR or 2 ought to work out swell.
