here an odds one. I have a magnum of this wine and was thinking of opening with a New Years dinner party that will primarily be mags of 1984 calif cabernet. Anyone have any experience with this wine?

D'now the wine, but I do think it should be opened. It may be past its prime, but if not I can't imaagine it having too many more miles in it. Maybe make it the grand finale red with lots of caveats to your guests that it might be over the hill or simply orgasmic.

Do let us know if y do open it.
P.S. You might give Tom Burgess a call and see if he has an opinion.

Petite Sirahs can really fool you. They can be extremely long-lived. I've had them 20+ years old that were just wonderful. You may have a real treat. It would be fun to try, no matter the outcome -- be adventuresome, give it a go.
