Recent consumption includes:

1998 Cuvee de Bord, Coteaux du Languedoc, France (The Midi). (Grenache, Syrah & Mourvedre) ($7.39)

1998 Domaine de la Brune, Coteaux du Languedoc, France (The Midi). (Carignan, Cinsaut, Grenache, Mourvedre and Syrah) ($7.98)

1997 Cline Cotes d'Oakley, California. (Carignan, Cinsaut, Grenache, Mourvedre, etc.) ($7.98)

1997 Guenoc Petite Sirah, North Coast, California. (Don't remember, but think it was around $10.00 or less)

1997 M. Chapoutier Gigondas, France (Southern Rhone) (Neighbor to CdP, Grenache, Syrah and Mourvedre) (A very nice gift.)

1999 McGuigan Bin 2000 Shiraz, South Eastern Australia. (A very nice gift.)

1998 Rosemount GSM (over $20.00 less than $30.00)

1997 Rosemount GSM (over $20.00 less than $30.00)

NV Horton Stonecastle Bin 2000, Virginia
(Mourvedre, Carignan, Syrah and others - see IK's post) ($12.40)

All somewhat similar, all very distinctly individual. I am blissfully wallowing in Grenache, Mourvedre, Syrah, Petite Shirah,
Carignan and Cinsaut.

All have lots of fruit, nice smooth finishes and not a lot of tannin. Each has its own characteristics, each is delicious to me and most of the above are/were less than $15.00. As a matter of fact the most were less than $10.00.

Only the Rosemount was "expensive" costing between $20.00 and $28.00 a bottle.

Have them with hard cheeses, meatloaf (the real, three-meat stuff), lamb, veal, mildly spiced sausages, 7-bean soup, garlic mashers and green beans and other stuff like that.

So which one(s) did you like the best?
(Inquiring minds and all that!)

Which did I like the best? Well........

The Rosemount GSM and the Gigondas. The Rosemount has a lot of character and the Gigondas was a close second. (Thanks, IK!)

But bear in mind that I would enjoy drinking anyone of them again and again and ...... well you get the point.
