Wow, what an interesting wine. I have been drinking a LOT of Cali Syrah lately, but this cuvee tastes so much like a Cornas that it is amazing. Absolutely incredible how this wine, as it opened up, exhibited a flavor profile so different from other Cali Syrahs I have tasted. Lots of alchol at first, but as it opened up the fruit came forward.

The flavors of beef are dense and rich, though the wine is more ruby in color and not the inky purple that is typical of Cali Syrah. Looks very much like a medium bodied Cab in the glass.

The nose has that upfront beefy Syrah aroma with blackberry and a touch of strawberry, then makes way for leather and beef stew on palate. I wish it had just an inch more concentrated fruit and finish.

Very, very interesting drink. I like it a lot becuase I love Northern Rhones, but this is not your typical Cali Syrah. I plan to buy a handful of these, put 'em in the cellar, and see what happens.
