Decided to make the last wine of the second millenium and the first wine of the third something memorable.

We chose a 1971 Schloss Johannisber Beerenauslese. Cranked-up the stereo and put on the final movement of Beethoven's Nineth.

The wine was pure nectar. Layer upon layer of fruit with incredible complexity on both the nose and pallate. Still plenty of acid. This is the stuff of legends.
