Vendanges Tardives or VT for the uninitiated means late harvest (extra ripe grapes).
$34.99 for a half-bottle (375 ml.)
13% alcohol
Coppery gold color, very clear.
Blast of aroma hits the nostrils instantly.
Floral, honeysuckle, botrytis nose.
Rich, lush mouthfeel without being cloying or unctuous.
Nicely spiced (white pepper?)
I sipped this by itself and also with shortcake cookies. A satisfying wine albeit pricy.
I just was thinking that this would be nice with ginger cookies or spice cake. I have about a half-glass remaining in the bottle and will buy some ginger cookies after work to finish it off.

How did the ginger cookies work?

Not quite as well as I had imagined, IK. I ate a ginger snap and had the first sip of the late harvest Gewurztraminer and thought I had found the perfect match, but successive sips and nibbles seemed slightly off. If I splurge on another Gewurz VT sometime in the future, I may bake a spice cake and try that combination or I may try it with a regular Gewurz rather than a VT.
