Brown! Looks like I have been found out. It is a Depends for me...... I think that I might look cute frolicking around in a Depends with a New Year's banner draped across one shoulder, a glass of Port in one hand and a Partagas cigar in the other.

Hmmmmmmm, Bucko as 'Baby New Year'..... Might be cute.....might be scary!!! But you WOULD make for one heck of a year!!!

Actually Bucko, considering your age, I had more the 'grandfather time' picture in mind for you.....<grin> Already have the beard right??? Darn, can't remember that ZAP photo well enough....

Hey Randy.....safely ignoring this thread??? SMART MAN!! Sorry 'bout getting you into this! But then, you know me....I am not any good at resisting things like this!

Depends and Port -- sounds like Bucko might have been a Victorian in an earlier life...you know, nasty little secrets and all that rot!

- n144mann - 08-18-1999

Twisting the knife...me??? well, maybe just a little. I have to while I can, I probably am not that far behind you....

But, that is the nice thing about being a nobody....most of you don't know how old I am........ And those of you who do shall remain nameless as long as you remain quiet!

This thread has gone AWOL!!!

Personally speaking I avoid black whenever possible and wear orange whenever I can.... at times I resemble a walking satsuma, but hey! I don't care.

Any more thoughts on your fizz for New Year?!

- n144mann - 08-18-1999

Well Tabby....you will find that it happens on here from time to time. What was that Tom said...we are irreverant???

more fizz ideas......nope not from me....just make sure you have plenty! <grin> I will have some fizz on New years....but I am in Bucko's camp.....I love port!! and will probably drink more of that over the course of the night. Just keep those stinky cigars away from me Bucko....they make my head stuff up and my eyes red.

Tabby, haven't you got enough fizzy ideas -- that sounds not like what I meant to ask...

I mean, Randy, Bucko and I spouted off a few (punning again, hey) good fizzers. What are you planning a party for a thousand?

I still go with the Pol Roger -- Roederer (sp) too.

As for the turn of the millennium -- another great hype for the marketers, and a night when too many amateurs will be out getting sick. Give me a home where the bubbles roam and the Port awaits to enter the fray...

Orange everyone; let's all wear orange that night and try explaining why to our comapnions or spouses (are they one and the same?)

- n144mann - 08-18-1999

<companions or spouses (are they one in the same?)>

depends who you are asking I guess... For me, it will be one in the same.

Sorry, Nancy. Can't touch this. As you know, I get in enough trouble as it is! But lucky dude, your husband... wonder if he knows it.

- n144mann - 08-19-1999

TROUBLE......yes, you and me both Randy! Been there, done that!!!! Thanks for the kind words Randy.

My wife and I always spend New Year's Eve with a couple we have known many years, and whom we value. The sparkling wine flows, the dinner follows, the sparkling wine flows, the dessert, the Port flows, and then it is midnight, and the sparkling wine flows. So, maybe I need two more to go with my first two choice soarklers: I think I will add Taittenger and Krug (if I have the money). Actually, I should have the money since I will have taken all my savings out of the bank in preparation for Y2K!!!

Scholars at M.I.T. were asked to fix the Y2K problem. They came up with this solution. Change every y to k and vice versa. So: Happk New Kear everkone. And enjoy that Yrug Champagne.

- Bucko - 08-19-1999

Okay, okay, I can't stand it.

<I apologize in advance>

- n144mann - 08-20-1999

OOOOHHHHHH MAAAAAAAAAAANNNNN!!!! someone put this person out of his misery....<grin>

You need to apologize for that one

So our dear Bucko, other than running around as Baby New Year, any special millennium plans??

I make a motion that we all celebrate the millenium on our own this year, dressed in orange of course, (I will just have to hide the camera so no one has proof of my wearing it)....and then next year, the true beginning of the next millennium, we all meet at your place Bucko for an even bigger, better party....<grin> Anyone second that idea???

Nancy

- Thomas - 08-20-1999

Sounds fine, but when the year turns to 2001, will there be any "Millennium" sparklers around to enjoy, or millennium wines at all?

I heretell that the word Millennium for wine has been trademarked by a group of marketers who know a good hype when they see one.

Bucko, did you see the cartoon in the recent New Yorker. A man sitting at a manual typewriter in a particularly Victorian-looking room, wearing Edwardian clothing, beside a Victrola. The caption reads: 12:01 a.m., January 1, 2,000, the implication being that at that moment his whole life reverted a century. What an idea! Perhaps we can celebrate New Year's in the court of the Ottoman Empire amidst Byzantine splendour!

- n144mann - 08-20-1999

HMMMMM, interesting point foodie.....maybe we better round up that person with the 20,000 bottle wine cellar and hi-jack it

Nancy

- Tabby - 08-20-1999

I second the motion for wearing orange on New Year's Eve!! A splendid colour - and one that no doubt will match my eyes before the evening is out...
