My mom turned 89 today, so we took her to dinner last night and brought this with us, gladly paying the $20 corkage fee. All had fresh grilled red snapper with artichoke hearts & mushrooms, basking in olive oil. Delightful! The wine was as elegant as expected, dancing on the palate with lively effervescence and a very faint undertone of wheat toast; none of the lemony/yeasty notes that characterize the current NV Yellow Label were evident. I gave 100 bucks for this bottle two years ago, and see that it's now $180. But it was the perfect wine for the occasion. And Mom informed me that she would like the 1990 at her 90th birthday celebration next year. I'd better start saving my nickels & dimes now!

Thanks, Drew. We should all live as gracefully to such a ripe old age!
