- chittychattykathy - 12-26-1999 Does anyone know if there are any Sparkling Vouvray(s) that are imported into the US? And if so, who imports it/them? - Randy Caparoso - 12-27-1999 Good question. Haven't seen one in years (Monmousseaux used to be a common brand). However, Kermit Lynch (who has distribution in all major markets) imports a Petillant style Vouvray by Champalou. It's quite good (we sell it in some of our restaurants) -- just a partial sparkler, but yeasty, honeyed and fragrantly fresh. Would retail around $20-$22 in most parts of the country. - Jerry D Mead - 12-28-1999 The best known and most widely available is Chateau Moncontour...sorry I don't know the importer. - chittychattykathy - 12-28-1999 I have asked eight of my vendors about it, my answers being "never heard of it" to "are you sure such a wine is made". A friend of mine enjoyed quite a few bottles while in France a few months back, and never dreamed it would be this hard to find in the states. Thanks for trying. K |
