To my mind, Spain has the best value wines in the world as well as the best age-worthy wines under $15. This one fits both.

Dark color turning over to purple in the glass. Expressive nose of dark fruits, with plum and blackberry fruit flavors tempered by earthiness and with a long, lip-smacking, spicy finish. Tannins still formidable at this point, but in 3-5 it should begin to show more. Opened up nicely later in the evening, showing some black currant, too. Blend of 50% Monastrell (Mourvedre), 25% Cab, and 25% Tempranillo. 14% alc. Paid $12 for it at Whole Foods. FWIW, WE 89 and rated a Best Buy. Will sit on a few and open them periodically starting in about 3 years.

Interesting, it runs $18-$20 elsewhere. Wish we had a Whole Foods.
