Anne picked this one up at $14, and I figured it's hard to pass up an older Gran Reserva at that price point. Decanted about 40 minutes to warm it up from cellar temp and let it open up a bit. Dark ruby color. Cinnamon and vanilla on the nose. Good strawberry vanilla flavors and a nice finish. Varietally pure and from the traditional style. I can't ask for much more from a $14 wine. Alc. 13%. Much better than some of their recent vintages, including the '97 Reserva, which was crummy.

You describe it how I remember the wine--nice.
