Picked up 20 cases of this darling this morning. Popped the cork and was pleasantly suprised. It needs to breath for about 30 minutes but you get the tobacco, spice, orange peel, tis' a meaty tempranillo with a some nibbling/chewy tannins. Color is close to a burgundian pinot. Still young in the bottle and cellar worthy for another 5 years, but certainly consumable with the summer burger. Noticing a lot of Bosconia/Riojas entering the market at softer prices, which is good news for us all.

As you know already, nice producer and usually pretty solid stuff that can handing quite a bit of aging. Got some of his whites that are approaching 30 years now that they are still sing!

Just had a bottle of this (paid $35)
Nice wine, tend to agree with your notes, though didn't get any tobacco, and black cherry was one the notes I centered on. Finish was short, but the nose was pretty.
Wouldn't buy this vintage again at $35, but at your price, Alex, it's much more attractive.
Oh, went great with oven fries seasoned with smoked paprika, cracked green peppercorn and oregano. Better with the food than on its own.

Man I love fries, too bad they don't love me.

I ended getting a case of this from PW at an almost unfairly pleasant price.
Opened one today. Same notes as above, but the value score (if I gave one) would be high 90's now

I've been working on a case of this and tonight opened the 4th bottle. It's completely delicious. I'm hoping the rest of the case tastes like this, because I could drink it every night. Still getting black cherry, but orange peel and spice are coming on strong. Whole thing is really silky. I wish I had more than 8 bottles left. It'll be hard to keep out of 'em to see how they evolve.
