- Drew - 12-13-2004 30% Syrah (identified on the label as "Shiraz"), 20% Cabernet Sauvignon and 50% Monastrell (Mourvèdre). Delicious internationally styled blend. Black/purple in the glass. Lush black fruit and blackberry flavors with hints of coffee and mocha. Has good structure and a nice finish. Very nice for $9.99 -13.5%Alc/vol. Drew - Bucko - 12-13-2004 I liked it as well: 2003 Mad Dogs & Englishmen, Shiraz/Cabernet/Monastrell, Jumilla, Spain, $10, 20,000 cases imported. Who says you can't find a decent ten buck wine? Full-bodied and balanced, this Spanish blend offers up a host of cherry, berry and cola notes. Terrific value; 88/91. - Innkeeper - 02-12-2007 We enjoyed the '04 tonight. It's still $9.99 in the N.H. Liq Stores. It is now 14% alcohol; and consists of 60% Monstrell, 20% "Shiraz", and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon. It has an almost opaque purple color, and smelled and tasted of lush red and black fruit on the nose and upfront. It had a lot of earthy tones in the middle and finish fine. Matched it with Swiss Steak made out of the leftover meatball meat, pilaf, and nuked zucchini. Great Monday night. - winoweenie - 02-13-2007 Will put in an ordwer tomorrow as me daily drinkers have been decimated by the festive holiday parties. WW |
