Had a glass of this at Upstream Restaurant in Charlotte to accompany lobster bisque and seared barramundi (New Zealand fish) with truffle oil over Swiss chard and side dish of lobster risotto. I had tried Honig S.B. before at a Charlotte wine event and found it to be a very acceptable California S.B.
Pale straw color. Crisp and pleasant. Grapefruit impression. Balanced and an easy accompaniment to the fish entree.
Ended the meal with a decaf coffee and a rich chocolate truffle cake that I couldn't finish.

Honig IMHO is one of the last of the true grape-growers that produce honest, value-packed wines year-after. WW

I guess I will have to try some of their other wines. Have only had the S.B.

Michael Honig does it right. Michael keeps it nice and simple. They focus on 2 grapes: Cabernet Sauvignon and Sauvignon Blanc. They make 2 levels of Cabernet and 2 levels of Sauvignon Blanc. In the past couple of years they have started producing a late harvest Sauvignon Blanc that will knock your socks off. The lower level of cab and sauv blanc are very reasonably price and drink better than priced. I have introduced many people to these wines and everyone has loved them.

Thanks for the added info. I will look for the Cabernet Sauvignon and also the late harvest S.B. Micpic8, do you live in California?

Where is Upstream Cafe in Charlotte? Charlotte has changed so much, I don't know where anything is any more. Anyway, like to hear what is going on there.

Brappy, just saw your question. Upstream is in Phillips Place (south and east of downtown Charlotte), an upscale shopping area. Upstream specializes in seafood and sushi and carries the wines that complement that cuisine. Some dishes have an Asian influence. It is close to a Dean & Deluca wineshop/wine bar so I sometimes try a flight of wines at Dean & Deluca before having dinner at Upstream.
