I'm afraid that I may have too little info on the wines here to be able to get a good idea of a good dessert to pair, but here's the deal:

The owner of the establishment I work at is having a food and wine pairing. The wines chosen for the dessert course are an Aussie chardonnay/pinot noir/pinot meunier sparkling wine and/or a German pinot noir. He mentioned to the head chef that he would like to have a german dessert, probably chocolate. I think chocolate may overpower both wines. I think a fruit dessert of some sort (possibly one that compliments the varietal characteristics of the pinot noir) would be the way to go. Does anyone have any ideas I can throw at them?

Here are some notes on the sparkling: toast and tropical fruit on the nose, citrus fruits and creamy mouth feel. I don't have notes on the German pinot noir but know that it is light bodied.

I agree with you on something with fruit--not chocolate with those wines (although some think sparklers and chocolate pair well). Maybe a strawberry torte (German style with glaze) to go with Spatburgunder (German Pinot Noir). I'm not the best one to come up with suggestions for pairing with sparklers but again something with strawberries probably won't clash. Strawberry shortcake is another possibility.

The Pinot Meunier has an odd taste, if used alone to make a sparkling wine. Blended with Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, it's fine, but standing alone it would be difficult to pair well with a dessert. I would choose a very dark, bitter chocolate.... or simply an unsweetened pastry with cream and perhaps raspberries.
