 * Chateau Mouton Rothschild Pauillac 2006
* Chateau Mouton Rothschild Pauillac
2006

France, Bordeaux

Tasting Notes:
A sensational effort, the 2006 Mouton Rothschild exhibits an opaque purple color as well as a classic Mouton perfume of creme de cassis, flowers, blueberries, and only a hint of oak. Dalhuin told me that in whisky barrel-tasting vintages such as 1989 and 1990, Mouton was aged in heavily-toasted barrels, and they have backed off to a much lighter toast for the barrels’ interior. I think this has worked fabulously well with the cassis quality fruit they get from their Cabernet Sauvignon. The full-bodied, powerful 2006 possesses extraordinary purity and clarity. A large-scaled, massive Mouton Rothschild that ranks as one of the top four or five wines of the vintage, it may turn out to be the longest-lived wine of the vintage by a landslide.

The label will undoubtedly be controversial as a relative of Sigmund Freud, Lucian Freud, has painted a rather comical Zebra staring aimlessly at what appears to be a palm tree in the middle of a stark courtyard. I suppose a psychiatrist could figure out the relationship between that artwork and wine, but I couldn’t see one. This utterly profound Mouton will need to sleep for 15+ years before it will reveal any secondary nuances, but it is a packed and stacked first-growth Pauillac of enormous potential. Anticipated maturity: 2020-2060+

 * Louis Roederer Cristal Magnum 2002
* Louis Roederer Cristal Magnum 2002

France, Champagne

Tasting Notes:
Created in 1876, this is a Champagne at it's finest, as inspired today as it has always been, the embodiment of elegance and purity.

Cristal is made according to the strictest criteria based on a drastic process of selection applying to the vintage, the cru, the village, the grapes and finally the wines.

Only Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes from the House's 10 most celebrated crus are used in the production of this legendary cuvee. Racy, crisp style, with apple, wheat grain and lemon notes. Gorgeous hazelnut and apple scents. Elegant, deep, and silky-textured, this medium to full-bodied beauty is immensely concentrated, pure, packed with apple, nectarine, and buttered toast flavors, and astoundingly long in the finish.

The Cristal Magnum typically retails for $600+ in fine wine stores. ClubCorp members get this lovely 96+ rated Champagne magnum for $499.

Tasting Notes:
Méo-Camuzet is a world-class exclusive offer in very limited quantities. Additional quantities are available on demand via pre-order. This wine is so rare, it will sell-out in no time so please don't wait! Here's what Berghound, a leading burgundy wine reviewer says about the wine...

This is also exceptionally ripe with a seductive nose of spicy black cherry trimmed in and subtle violet notes that complement the rich, textured and mouth coating flavors that drench and stain the palate in dry extract on the fresh and balanced finish...this should improve over the next decade 2013+. Scored 90-93/100.

Pulled from the fattest, ripened vines in concentrated soils from Michael Mondavi's Animo Vineyard in Atlas Peak...."Tight and cedary, with mineral, sage and oak flavors that overshadow the dried currant, spice and black cherry fruit.  * Moet & Chandon Dom Perignon 2000 Vintage
* Moet & Chandon Dom Perignon 2000
Vintage

France, Champagne

Tasting Notes:
2000 vintage notes: "Dom Perignon is a gorgeous, seductive wine that floats on the palate with remarkable grace. Toasty aromas meld into freshly cut flowers, apricots and pears, with sweet notes of mint and licorice that linger on the long finish. This perfumed, inviting Dom Perignon is elegance personified, and in this vintage the wine fully merits its lofty reputation. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2019." 94/100 by Wine Advocate

In the mouth the attack is direct, a prelude to a lusty roundness that seems to curl up like a plant. Notes of anis and dried ginger glide over the fruit skins (pear and mango), creating an effect that is more agile than fleshy. The final stretches out and then comes to rest, calm, mature and diffuse.

The 2000 vintage is to retail for $199 per bottle. A Club Member exclusive price of $169 per bottle. Enjoy and celebrate with friends! Comes in a very nice black gift box for presentation.

 * Vieux Chateau Certan Pomerol 2005
* Vieux Chateau Certan Pomerol 2005

France, Bordeaux

Tasting Notes:
"Shows violet, olive and sliced plum on the nose, with Indian spices and hints of cappuccino and chocolate. Complex. Very pretty and aromatic. Full-bodied, with wonderfully sweet fruit and chewy yet ripe tannins. Last for minutes on the palate. The best young red ever from this producer. Best after 2011. 4,165 cases made." 97 Points - Wine Spectator, March 31, 2008

A stunning effort from Alexander Thienpont, the 2005 Vieux Chateau Certan (a blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc) reveals an inky/blue/purple color along with a rich, sumptuous perfume of black olives, lavender, roasted herbs, licorice, pain grille, and oodles of truffles as well as creme de cassis. In the mouth, hints of chocolate and charcoal also make an appearance along with good acidity, fabulous purity, and a full-bodied, powerful mouthfeel. In keeping with the style of this terroir, the wine is reserved and restrained, but deep. It should develop magnificently, and age for 30-40 years. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2035. 95 Points. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate (2008)

 * Opus One Proprietary Red Wine 2006
* Opus One Proprietary Red Wine 2006

California, North Coast

Tasting Notes:
"Not surprisingly, the 2006 is a bigger, more muscular, less charming effort displaying unbridled power, full-bodied richness, and notes of new saddle leather, black fruits, roasted herbs, and burning embers. Powerful and rich with sweet tannin, low acidity, and more structure and density than the 2005 as well as less nuance and complexity, the 2006 should be consumed over the next 15+ years." 94 Robert Parker - Wine Advocate

"A five-variety Bordeaux blend, based on 77% cabernet sauvignon. Saturated deep ruby. Cassis, bitter chocolate and sexy smoky oak on the nose. Dense and sweet but firmly structured, with lovely inner-mouth aromatic quality giving the wine sappy lift. Pure, penetrating flavors of cassis, lead pencil and bitter chocolate, with a sexy oak quality that I can only describe as Mouton-like. This is still quite tightly wound and will need several years of bottle aging to soften up (it won't be released until the fall of this year). "The biggest change here has been our independence," said winemaker Michael Silacci, who took over winemaking responsibilities with the 2004 vintage." 93 Steven Tanzer

 * Bodegas RODA Cirsion Rioja 2005
* Bodegas RODA Cirsion Rioja 2005

Spain, Rioja

Tasting Notes:
The famed RODA Cirsion is an acheivement worthy of applause. High altitude, unfiltered tempranillo grapes from super old vines in the rocky Rioja Alta of Spain. Super low yield single vineyard production.

The 2005 Cirison is 100% Tempranillo from hand-selected grapes. Purple-colored, it offers a splendid nose of acacia flowers, spice box, mineral, leather, black cherry, and blackberry liqueur. This leads to a powerful, opulent wine which manages to retain a sense of elegance. All components are harmonious and well-integrated. There is enough structure for 6-8 years of evolution and this top-flight effort will be at its best from 2015-2030.

This is a limited allocation, small production, highly collector wine of which we have 100 bottles to offer our Club Members. Fine wine stores price on this wine $249-300. Wines.com sale price $169 per bottle. We are offering this to Club Members at the remarkable price of $149 per bottle, over 50% off.

 * Joseph Phelps Insignia Vertical '05 & '06
* Joseph Phelps Insignia Vertical '05 &
'06

California, Napa Valley

Tasting Notes:
This package contains one bottle each of the 2005 and 2006 Joseph Phelps Insignia.

Notes on the 2005 Insignia: "Medium to full-bodied and elegant, with a European style imposed on the rich, velvety, California fruit, this cuvee will benefit from several years of bottle age, and should easily keep for three decades." 95, Robert Parker

Notes on the 2006 Insignia: ""The newest baby, the 2006 Insignia (approximately 15,000 cases) is a blend of 95% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Petit Verdot. A big, backward, tannic effort, with a dense purple color, beautifully sweet, pure notes of graphite, blackberries, cassis, licorice, and earth, the wine has a firm, almost Bordeaux-like structure, plenty of tannin, muscle, and richness. It is still too early to predict the maturity curve, but I suspect this wine is also going to require 3-5 years of bottle-age when it is released, and have a similar aging curve to the 2005, but perhaps is a slightly more rigid in style." - 94 by Robert Parker

Regular price on these two bottles is $359+. These two bottles are offered to ClubCorp members for an amazing low price of $279 with Free Shipping!
