The submerged acidity reveals itself on the finish, along with a tactile sensation around the gums." 90 Wine Spectator

Perrin et Fils Cotes du Rhone Villages 2007 France, Cotes Du Rhone
Tasting Notes: "Very pure, with gorgeous plum and black cherry aromas and flavors laced with enticing spice, graphite and violet notes, followed by a long, silky finish. Delicious." 90 Wine Spectator
"Beaucastel and its subsidiary wines marketed under the Perrin et Fils moniker are consistently among the bright shining stars of France. I have been visiting this estate for nearly thirty years, and over that time I have seen all the elements of what makes wines great – an incredible respect for the vineyards, a conscientious, uncompromising work ethic, and extraordinary passion for gentle handling of fruit from their sites."
"This is a marvelous portfolio of wines, from the extraordinary values, to the top-end world classics. While one could say this is as traditionally run estate as can be found in western Europe, the Perrins are remarkably flexible if they sense that quality can be improved." Galan Dona Auristela Reserve Sauvignon Blanc 2009 Chile, Lontue Valley
Tasting Notes: Lime blossom aromas burst from the glass. Juicy nectarine fills the mouth. THIS is fantastic Sauvignon Blanc. Rich & fully developed, no bitter citrus here.
The grapes were fermented in temperature-controlled tanks and French oak barrique prior to blending, resulting in a wine that shows intense varietal characters with added complexity and rich, mouthfilling texture. The grapes for this wine were selected from the lower terraces of their vineyard. To give added complexity and interest, 10% of the juice was fermented in French oak barriques.

Bodegas Mustiguillo Mestizaje 2007 Spain, Valencia
Tasting Notes: "The 2007 Mestizaje is a blend of 70% Bobal, with the balance Tempranillo, Garnacha, and Cabernet Sauvignon. It was barrel-fermented and raised in oak for 6 months prior to bottling without fining or filtration. Opaque purple-colored, it offers up an alluring perfume of cedar, tobacco, black raspberry, black cherry, and violets. This is followed by a smooth-textured, layered, savory wine with lots of spice, chocolate-covered cherry and black fruit flavors. It will develop for another 2-3 years but can be enjoyed now." 90 WA

Capcanes Mas Donis Garnacha Syrah 2005 Spain, Montsant

"It offers up an expressive nose of slate, mineral, licorice, violets, black cherry, and blueberry. Layered, long, and complex, this spicy, hedonistic effort has 2-3 years of aging potential but can be enjoyed now without guilt. It is a great value." 91 Wine Advocate

Peter Lehmann Clancy's Blend Australia, Barossa Valley
Tasting Notes: A bold, robust mix of cabernet sauvignon, shiraz and merlot, Clancy's really over-delivers at it's modest price-point. With the 2004 vintage scoring 90 Wine Spectator points, and the 2005 coming in a great vintage year in Australia, this is a wine not to miss. Lehmann's '05 Shiraz garnered a 91 point Wine Spectator score, and the shiraz component of the '05 Clancy's is clearly the headliner of this star-studded show.

Hahn Pinot Noir Monterey County 2006 California, Monterey County
Tasting Notes: "The deep but muted ruby hue hints at the silky tannins of this dynamic and multi-faceted wine. The white and black pepper background aromas blend nicely with clove fragrances on the front. Every sip uncovers new flavors and textures. When given time, the wine evolves from edgy to extreme bliss with a tangy burst of fruit and spice, backed by cool-climate acidity that carries each separate flavor component on to the next sip. The structure and balanced acidity of this wine allows the flavors to hang for a moment before it finishes with a light, slow and even departure that leaves the mouth infused with fresh pomegranate flavors." Winemaker notes

Albino Armani Pinot Grigio 2007 Italy, Valdadige
Tasting Notes: Straw yellow in colour with light ash-grey flecks typical of Pinot Grigio. The scent has traces of white flowers and mature pear. In the mouth great structure and balance, long and complex.
"...I felt like I was taking a giant bite of a nice, braeburn apple. Maybe a fuji. It was very exciting. It wasn’t sweet apple, just a very nice, full flavored apple palate. An additional surprise I got when this wine opened was a nice floral note. I never expected that when I first tried it, but it definitely has a gentle floral flavor. I could describe it as a summer meadow, light and refreshing, rather than thick and pungent.
This wine did have a nice, lingering finish. It dances on your lips and your middle-tongue/cheeks feel the tingle of minerals and acid for a minute or more. There is certainly no hard or harsh aftertaste. It’s simple and clean and refreshing." Milo's Wine Blog
